We have been taking apart all the interior partitions, furniture, saving/sorting for later and checking for structural problems. The area by the front door seems to have rot. We think that the step is leaking into the sub-floor although we are not 100% certain. When we put a screwdriver into the wood it crumbled. Sadly, we can’t do a complete body off floor replacement and need to replace only the bad floor sections.

Making the hole bigger.

What the hole looked like after the rot and insulation was removed.

The original rear bathroom has soft spots under the pan and the pan of the wet bath is cracked. This means it has to be ripped out also. The dog “helping” as we begin to tackle the rear bath issue. Her favorite thing to do is to lean, lay or moop exactly in the spot being worked on.

I can’t even begin to describe how much we are dreading this area.

Oh my!

Let me end this post by saying it didn’t get better in the bathroom as we continued to remove more floor and bathroom components.
