1975 Airstream Argosy – Curved Window Replacement

A nice person from Arkansas has reached out to me on Facebook. He told me that he had an Argosy curved glass window. Hoss’s was willing sell me the window and more importantly he was willing to ship to me. It is a relief to have a solution. I can buy one new but I wanted one that was not tinted to match the opposite side. I called many places. No one had one without tint and most were hesitant to ship because of the risk of breakage. Hoss sent me my curved glass window and it arrived lovingly bubble wrapped and packaged to perfection. Today is installation day! Woo!

This is what we did after I wrecked the window. We put up plastic and worked on other areas. The neighbor boy loves to come and work on the Airstreams when he has time. He has the Airstream bug now too and likes to learn. He has been working on his polishing skills. It looks great!
We drilled out the rivets holding the rub rail on. Then I used a spring punch and made a depression in each rivet head around the window frame. Carefully drilling out each rivet and then cleaning the sealant from around the frame took the most time.
I put a heavy bead of Parrbond on the edge of the window. Andrew and I wrestled the window into place and used cleco fasteners in every other hole to hold it into place.
We put in olympic rivets and used a dob of parrbond on each hole before putting in the rivet. We nipped the mandrels short and will leave them like this until we are ready to shave them.

  1. I need to replace the front window on my 1975 Argosy on the opposite (driver’s) side…do you have Hoss’s contact info?
