Fixer Upper: Curb Appeal 2 – Front Porch

This is the front of Fixer Upper on the day we closed on the house. Since then, we have added some trees and gardens. The metal posts are structurally sound but aren’t to my taste. It makes my little house look a bit dated.
New porch ceiling bead-board has already been installed and painted.
Andrew and his best friend took a day to clad the poles with lumber we had kicking around. They are oversized but we didn’t want to spend money replacing the perfectly solid metal supports for cosmetic reasons. We wanted to do this the cheapest way possible. Instead, that extra surface area at the top of the posts will be a good spot to put a camera facing the front door, speakers or fun lighting.
Half way there and I already like it better
Priming, filling nail holes and adding trim
Post number 2 is close to being done. They both could use more edge trim but I am looking to do this for as close to free as possible.
I really see it coming together now. Maybe some big modern silver or black house numbers would look good on the front face.
Paint and a few trim pieces are still required but the front yard curb appeal has come a long way,
