1960’s Airstream Projects

My father was cruising along in his car and he saw a glint of silver through some trees. He debated with himself and decided to turn around. He found two 1960’s Airstreams sitting in a field. Dad called me and said he found me two Airstreams that the family would like to clear out before winter. It the northeast, snow can fly in early autumn. I remember many Halloween activities being decked in snow gear as well as costumes. We needed to decide quickly.

We opted to take the leap and just buy them without doing the usual complete crawl through. We just like to poke around in Airstreams when we get the chance. The 1960’s skins were beautifully unblemished. While the interiors are all physically there, just opening the door to the coach let the overpowering scents of mouse urine out. Everything will be coming out including the interior skins. Much of the wood is urine stained and there are large fluffy mouse nests everywhere in the places that are easily seen. I am a little concerned about the places I can’t see.

It is always exciting to get new to us Airstream projects. I was pretty excited to rescue these two. Unfortunately, we have several projects running right now and these two vintage specimens will have to wait. They are 2ft different in size and a year apart. One has all the windows and is in much better condition than the other. Both have practically perfect skins. These will be exciting to buff out with no clear coats!
